Just a quick blog today because I want to fanny around the house before Mr Maximalista comes home and starts wagging his finger at me for wasting my time putting up Valentine’s Day décor. I can hear him now, plaintively asking, “didn’t we just take down the decorations?”
But let’s pretend that the real reason today’s blog is a short one is because I didn’t want to bore you too much with what is, let’s face it, a kind of boring “holiday”.
I mean, Valentine’s Day has none of the thrill of Halloween, nor the excitement of Christmas. (Or maybe it does, and I am doing it wrong?) Anyway, Halloween seems to drag on for months, with the shops starting to flog Halloween stuff as soon as Summer reaches the solstice. Then BOOM, Christmas stuff is on display as soon as the leaves start falling from the trees.
V-day is different, isn’t it. It’s over relatively quickly, kind of like an in-betweener until the next big candy fest — Easter — arrives.
And who knows when that will be. Could be next week. Could be next month.
Regardless, decorating for any of these holidays generates mild derision from my husband, who would rather we simply left the house as it is. Unfortunately for him, I rule this roost, so he is SOL.
As I like to frequently remind him: happy wife, happy life.
Aaanyway, all of this is a long-winded way of telling you that I have been decorating the love shack for Valentine’s Day. Here are some pictures. Enjoy.
Lots of love,
M xo
