Burger, beer, and a new bog

By

Mr Maximalista and I went to our local Re-Store [Habitat for Humanity], this weekend. We were ostensibly looking for travertine tiles to put in the guest bathroom but we walked out instead with a new *DRUMROLL* dove grey Toto toilet!

Please, do allow me to be smug for just one moment. Toto toilets are like the Rolls Royce of toilets, retailing for literally thousands of dollars. Whereas mine had a $55 price sticker on it, which in itself was a massive bargain, until we went to pay, when we discovered that it was an additional 50% off! Weee!!

I somehow managed to contain my glee at the checkout, then yes, I did my happy dance in the parking lot, and even got a high-five from Mr Maximalista. High praise indeed from my stoic husband.

And just to improve my borderline intolerable exuberance, the lady ahead of us in the queue complimented me on my dress, saying that “red really is your color”. Naturally, this elicited much eye-rolling behind me, from the man who has vowed to love and cherish me for the rest of our lives.

His comment, as we left Re-Store? “You’re going to be insufferable for the rest of the day, aren’t you.”

I took this as a statement, not a question, and agreed with him as yes, for once he was 100% correct.

After scoring at the Re-Store, we went to celebrate at a restaurant up the road.

We have been making an effort to try out all of the restaurants local to our new home, because we are the epitome creatures of habit: we definitely are the type of couple who normally latches on to a favourite eating establishment, then never tries dining anywhere else. Ever again.

ViewHouse is a newish eatery with rooftop dining that has magnificent views of the Rocky Mountains. The skies were threatening to rain when we arrived, so we opted to eat inside, upstairs next to their gorgeous suspended fireplace, watching the storm clouds rolling in as we sipped and supped.

Our meal was superb, service was outstanding, and IPAs delicious.

If you’re ever in the vicinity, ViewHouse is on the corner of I-25 and Woodmen Road in Springs. (Springs is what we local folk call Colorado Springs. Just an FYI if you’re trying to fit in, here.) There are three other locations, which we haven’t tried yet, but I’m sure they are as smashing as this location.

It’s been a wonderful, low-key weekend, hanging out with my husband, who is my best friend. (Shh, don’t tell that to my dog.) I hope your weekend has been great, too.

Lots of love,

M xo

PS, I can’t wait for my husband to wear his Bushwood CC t-shirt again (IYKYK), just so I can tell him that red really is his colour…!
