The English Maximalista

This past weekend marked my six-month blogversary. Whilst I sat here, chewing my pencil and pondering what to write, I realized that what I had started to write was basically chronicling the same things I wrote in my one-month and three-month blogversary editions. Yikes. Better shake things up.

So, here is my 6-month blogversary update, in one mercifully brief paragraph: 

I have written almost 70 columns since starting the English Maximalista, and am continuing to enjoy sharing my daily drudge with you. (You’re welcome.) The traffic to my website has more than doubled since my 3-month blogversary, which is splendid. And last but not least, my beloved Sadie continues to be a moron.

See – told you it would be brief!

Here follows a not so brief Maximalisticle of what Sadie has been up to thus far in February [it is February 6^th as I write this…]:

• One family size bag of red licorice was stolen off the kitchen counter, and eaten in its entirety
• Naturally, red vomit was later upchucked
• Naturally, that red vomit has stained my carpet
• I won’t mention the red poop. Suffice to say, it made its way through…
• Three days after the theft of the licorice, she stole an unopened bag of organic flour, again from the kitchen counter
• Didn’t eat it all, but DID leave an extremely messy pile of flour across the kitchen, on the breakfast room rug, through to the dining room [click HERE to see video]
• Inadvertently set our oven on fire by nudging Mr Maximalista as he was putting pizza in; it landed upside down, dripping cheese and sausage everywhere, which we couldn’t clean since the oven was too blasted hot. And this is what caught fire.
• Fortunately, nothing was harmed – although Sadie came THISCLOSE to being throttled by my own fair hands; there was also a conversation about dropping her off at the pound – and the only consequence is that there still lingers a vague whiff around the house of charred grease

The struggles with blogging remain the same as before: How do I get my Twitter / X numbers up? What is my objective with the blog? Is this a passion project? Will anyone want to read about my ordinary life? I mean, my life is hardly riveting. Do people really care about the moronic exploits of my dog?

Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year came and went. And as you know, Mr Maximalista and I have been on a cruise to Mexico, Belize, and Honduras, with a delightful day in Tampa, which I recently told you all about. But other than that, what more can I tell ya? 2026 is gliding smoothly along.
