I see an old chair and I want to paint it black

By

It’s been a windy few days here in Central Colorado, so it really wouldn’t have been smart to attempt to spray furniture in the back garden.

But now that the wind has finally died down, I have been able to touch up our old wicker patio set.

I had initially sprayed it black, about four years ago, when it had once been a tired-looking white. We were living in Wisconsin at the time, and had a Dutch barn in which to store things over the Winter, so our outdoor furniture wasn’t taking a weather-beating for 12 solid months.

But now, other than our garage, we don’t have a storage shed at the new house. [Edit: my husband just told me to write that we don’t have one YET.] Thus our outdoor furniture has to sit outside in all four seasons… and this past year, what with the move and all, the old wicker looked really sad.

Which is when I said hello to my dear old friend, Mr Rustoleum!

I LOVE this stuff. Rustoleum spray goes on so smoothly; the nozzle is thick, and does not clog the way some of the cheaper spray brands do. And believe me, I have tried plenty of the cheaper sprays. There is nothing wrong with using generic, but in this case, Rustoleum IS the best.

Three cans of Rustoleum spray did the entire 5-piece patio set. It literally look me five minutes to spray the 2-seater wicker chair.

Honestly, I spent more time wiping the overspray off my fingers with nail polish remover, than I spent on the actual project… but I think that’s more a case of operator error than any criticism of the product itself.

Same goes for the black rings which have now marred our lawn. Hopefully Mr Maximalista won’t be too cross with me when he sees them… and hopefully they will be erased when he mows the grass this weekend.

Now, if you will please allow me to absent myself, I have to put everything back in situ before the sprinklers turn on in fifteen minutes.

Must dash!

Lots of love,

M xo
